Comedy Sketch by Wang Sa 王沙 and Ye Fong 野峰

The comedians Wang Sa 王沙 (1924-1998) and Ye Fong 野峰 performed this skit in 1975, in a show to celebrate the tenth anniversary of television broadcasts in Singapore. They used several languages in their performances – Teochew, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English – each of which can be heard here. Teochew is transcribed in both flattened IPA and Peng’im, Mandarin (M) in Hanyu Pinyin, Cantonese (C) in modified Yale, and Hokkien (H) in Peh-oi-ji.
